Tampa Pathology Laboartories-School of Histotechnology is a 12 month training program approved by the State of Florida Department of Health with didactics and hands-on training. Students admitted to the program must be employees of Tampa Pathology, meet the requirements for the American Society of Clinical Pathology HT or HTL certification and be approved to attend the program by the Medical Director, Dr. Josť V. Suarez-Hoyos.
The program is designed with online modules covering chapters of Histology and Histotechniques. Students access the modules on a weekly basis and complete the the assigned activities for the modules. Once a month student are on a live class at TPL to discuss the previous modules and to be tested for the units covered during the prior month.
Students are also tested for each unit via an online examination program. Upon completion of the program student will apply for the ASCP examination and upon passing the examination they are eligible for licensure by the state of Florida.
Graduates from this program will be qualified to enter the field of histotechnology in various capacities such as:
Hospitals (Anatomical Laboartories)
Private industry (Mohs Laboratories)
